Quiznos is an American fast-food chain known for its toasted submarine sandwiches. It was founded in 1981 in Denver, Colorado by Jimmy Lambatos. Quiznos became the second-largest submarine sandwich chain in North America, following Subway. The chain faced significant financial challenges in the 2010s, culminating in a Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing in 2014 due to its overwhelming debt. Despite restructuring, the brand's footprint has significantly decreased in the U.S., with fewer than 150 locations as of 2023. Quiznos is notable for its international expansion, having opened restaurants in countries such as Mexico, Russia, and the UAE. However, its global presence also contracted in recent years. The brand continues to operate, now owned by High Bluff Capital Partners since 2018, and has been experimenting with new restaurant formats and menu innovations.
